GRUMELLO Valtellina Superiore DOCG

Grumello (from the Latin grumus, meaning knoll, hillock, rise; grum in the Valtellina dialect) is one of the four subzones of the Valtellina Superiore DOCG, covering an area of 71 hectares north of Sondrio. Here the estate directly manages several famous vineyards: Vigna Lunga, Sassorosso, Sassina. The subzone takes its name from the castle of Grumello, built by the De Piro family, the lords of Sondrio in the 13th and 14th centuries. Negri started producing Grumello in 1945.
