Between Podere San Lorenzo and Borgo di Granaio, on the north-east side of a hill at 300 m a.s.l., there is Poggio a’Rosi, the smallest of the estates. The estate, located on the edge of the wood, is surrounded by patches of wild roses and brooms. Recent studies have shown that the flowers and vegetation that grow around the vineyard contribute to the aromatic development of the wines. The stony and arid calcareous environments of the estate, very selective for plants, are interesting from a botanical point of view. Among the rows of vines, you can find the garrigue, a mix of plants a few centimetres high, adapted to difficult environmental conditions such as the thin soil and the scarcity of water, which limestone rock, in the absence of soil, is unable to retain. Pinot Nero Toscana IGT Rosato, with a fresh and mineral character, is our interpretation of the area. A rosé obtained by soft pressing the grapes, whose coral pink colour is traditionally achieved with a short maceration of the skins.
