The venerable Fattoria Machiavelli is an icon of the most ancient of Chianti traditions, found in Sant’Andrea in Percussina, and built in the cellar of what was once the home of Niccolò Machiavelli in his long years of exile from Florence, and in the adjacent Albergaccio tavern, where he spent his free time.Machiavelli was also a careful administrator of his vines and farmlands, which he managed and tended in person.

Machiavelli lived in confinement at the Albergaccio in 1512, then from 1513 onwards, alternating his writing with his farming, with some gentle distraction at the famous Hosteria.

Following an attentive restoration, the Osteria (Albergaccio) has recovered its original structure. The kitchen and the small rooms, furnished mainly with original items from the villa-museum, offer guests plain, traditional country cooking and prestigious Vigna di Fontalle and Poggio wines served in the most amiable atmosphere.
