Between Lake Garda and the Brenta Dolomites, Castello d’Arco dominates the valley from a high spur. The area’s rolling hills were chosen for selecting prized vines as early as the time of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
The vineyards in the lower Valle Sarca and the Valle dei Laghi are lovely, and around Castel Toblino, on the eponymous lake, as well as at Sarche (Calavino) down as far as the Arco fortress, the vines are embedded in the layout of the territory, conjuring up the exotic feel of a Mediterranean land.
